Is Tiger Motors a trusted used car dealer in Kuching?
Yes. Tiger Motors has a 4.9-star Google rating from 265 reviews, and buyers most often mention a fast process, easy loan approval and getting a full loan. We have sold 500+ cars since 2021, and won SME100 Fast Moving Companies, the SME100 CTOS Credit Excellence Award 2024 and the Consumers' Choice Award (MTPN).
Do you sell new cars?
No. Tiger Motors only sells used (second-hand) cars, never brand-new units. Every car we sell is Tiger Certified, with a 128-point inspection, a 1-year warranty and no flood or total-loss history.
What cars do you usually have?
Mostly Perodua and Proton, the most popular cars in Sarawak. Our best sellers are the Perodua Axia, Proton Saga and Perodua Bezza, followed by the Proton Iriz, Persona, Exora and X70 and the Perodua Myvi, Alza, Ativa and Aruz. We currently have 67 cars in stock. Browse the live inventory, or WhatsApp us your preferred model or monthly budget.
Tiger Certified cars
What is a Tiger Certified car?
A Tiger Certified car is a used car that has passed our 128-point inspection, had a professional full-body respray, and comes with a 1-year warranty on the engine, gearbox and ECU, plus 60 days of unlimited claims. It is guaranteed free of flood damage and total-loss history, and it comes with free window tint and an Android player.
What does the 128-point inspection check?
The 128 points are grouped into 13 categories: body panels (19), rims and tyres (8), windows (6), lamps (8), wipers (3), interior (14), seats and mats (10), engine bay fluids (6), engine bay leaks (5), engine bay components (8), functions such as aircon, power windows and reverse camera (16), lighting (8) and a road test (17). Each point is rated from 5 (mint or working properly) to 1, or N/A if the car doesn't have it, and the car gets an overall score.
How do you make sure a car is not a flood car or a total loss?
Every car goes through our own 128-point inspection before it is listed. When we buy a car, we also refer to the inspection report from the auction platform it comes from, which covers flood and total-loss history. To date, no car we sold has ever turned out to be a flood or total-loss unit, which is why every Tiger Certified car carries a no-flood, no-total-loss guarantee. Wherever you buy in Kuching, ask for this guarantee in writing before paying.
Do you sell cars that were in an accident?
We reject cars with serious structural damage when we buy them. A car that had minor accident damage that has been properly repaired can still be Tiger Certified, as long as every body panel, function and road-test point passes our 128-point inspection.
Is anything free with the car?
Yes. Every car comes with free window tint and an Android player installed, at no extra cost.
Warranty & after-sales
What does the 1-year warranty cover?
The Tiger Certified warranty covers the engine, gearbox and ECU for 1 year. For the first 60 days, claims are unlimited: if something goes wrong soon after you buy, we fix it. The only exclusion is damage caused by misuse or deliberate damage after delivery.
Where are warranty repairs done? I don't live in Kuching.
Repairs are done in-house in Kuching or at our panel workshops, which we have in towns big and small across Sarawak, from Sibu, Bintulu and Miri to Serian and Sri Aman. If there is no panel workshop near you, just inform us first: if the problem is covered under warranty and the quote is reasonable, you can repair it at a workshop near you and claim it from us.
What is the Tiger Helpline?
The Tiger Helpline is our after-sales line on WhatsApp and phone at 016-873 6833. Real people answer it during working hours and usually into the evening, for warranty claims, breakdowns or servicing questions after you buy.
Car loans & full loan
Can I get a full loan for a used car in Kuching?
Yes, most of our approved buyers get a full loan with no deposit. We submit your application to the most suitable lender (Maybank, CIMB, Hong Leong, Public Bank, AEON Credit or Chailease), which usually finances up to 90%. Tiger Capital then finances up to 20% of the car price to cover the 10% downpayment plus your insurance and road tax. The final result depends on your approved amount and credit scoring.
What is Tiger Capital? Is it loan kedai?
No, Tiger Capital is not loan kedai. A bank usually finances 90% of the car price, which leaves a 10% downpayment. Tiger Capital finances up to 20%: enough to cover that downpayment and also your insurance and road tax, so the whole purchase becomes a full loan with nothing to pay upfront. Your main car loan always comes from a bank or licensed financier (AEON Credit or Chailease). 350+ buyers have been financed through Tiger Capital, with RM2.2 million+ in downpayments disbursed.
Which banks and financiers do you work with?
Maybank, CIMB Bank, Hong Leong Bank, Public Bank, AEON Credit and Chailease. We choose where to submit based on your profile, which gives you the best chance of approval. Public Bank has the strictest requirements, so fewer buyers qualify there.
How long does loan approval take?
Up to 3 working days after we receive all your documents. It can take longer if there are credit scoring issues or if the lender can't reach you for verification, so keep your phone on after submitting.
What interest rate and loan tenure can I get for a used car?
The maximum tenure is 9 years. Banks charge about 3.5% flat and finance cars up to 15 years old at the end of the loan. AEON Credit rates depend on the brand and the car's age: for Perodua and Proton, about 5.28% up to 5 years old, 5.58% at 6 to 10 years, and 9.1% (Perodua) or 9.9% (Proton) at 11 to 16 years; Japanese makes are lower, from about 3.99%. AEON finances cars up to 17 years old at the end of the loan and not older than 16 today. Chailease charges about 9% and finances cars up to 17 years old at the end of the loan (16 for Proton). For example, a 7-year-old car can get up to 8 years with a bank, but 9 years with AEON or Chailease. These are the estimates we quote; your actual rate is set by the lender.
How much is the monthly instalment for a used car?
It depends on the price, tenure and lender. As an example, a RM35,000 car that is under 10 years old, with 90% financed by a bank over 9 years at 3.5% flat, works out to about RM384 a month. Every car page on our site shows an estimate for bank, AEON Credit and Chailease.
Can I check if I'm eligible before applying?
Yes. Our online eligibility check asks only for basic information and needs no documents. For an actual approval, we submit your documents to the lender.
What documents do I need for a car loan as an employee?
Your IC (front and back), 3 months' payslips, and either your EPF statement or 3 months' bank statements showing your salary. Your driving licence (front and back) is optional. Some lenders also ask for an employment confirmation letter from your HR, so it helps to have one ready.
What documents do I need if I'm self-employed?
Your IC (front and back), driving licence (front and back), trade licence, business registration (sole proprietorship, partnership, Sdn Bhd or Berhad), and 6 months' company bank statements. An unregistered business can't be submitted for a car loan.
Can a company buy a car under the company name?
Yes. We need the company extract (SSM), company licence, trade licence, the director's IC and driving licence, and 6 months' company bank statements.
Can retirees or pensioners get a car loan?
Yes, with all four documents: your IC (front and back), pension card (front and back), pension statement, and 3 months' bank statements. If you are 56 or older, you will also need a guarantor, as lenders only finance applicants over 55 who have a fixed monthly income and a guarantor.
What is the age limit for a car loan?
You can apply for a car loan from 18 up to 55 years old. From age 56, a loan is only possible if you have a fixed monthly income, such as a pension, and a guarantor who signs with you.
Can I buy a car and get a loan without a driving licence?
Yes. You don't need a driving licence to buy a car or apply for a car loan. Banks require a full licence, but AEON Credit and Chailease accept applicants with no licence or with only an L licence, so we submit your application to them instead.
My salary is paid in cash. Can I still get a loan?
Yes, if your employer deducts EPF. Your EPF statement is accepted as proof of income even when your salary is paid in cash. If you have neither EPF deductions nor bank statements showing your salary, we can't submit an application.
I just started a new job. Can I apply?
Yes. Include your offer letter or appointment letter as proof of employment along with your other documents.
Can Grab drivers, part-time or contract workers get a car loan?
Unfortunately not. Our lenders don't currently accept part-time work, contract work, staff on probation, Grab drivers or part-time delivery riders (such as Shopee) for car loans.
Can I get a car loan if I have CTOS records?
It depends on what the record is and how much. Small CTOS records (generally under RM2,000) are assessed case by case, and some are still approved. We can't check your CTOS for you, but we can submit your application and the lender will tell us whether it affects approval.
Can I get a car loan if I'm blacklisted in CCRIS, under AKPK or bankrupt?
No. A CCRIS blacklist (credit card, personal loan, PTPTN, housing loan or motorcycle loan), a Special Attention Account (SAA), an AKPK programme or bankruptcy will not be approved by our lenders.
Do I need a guarantor?
Usually not. We submit your application without a guarantor first, and only if the lender asks for one will we let you know. The exception is applicants aged 56 or older: they need a fixed monthly income, such as a pension, and a guarantor.
Will the bank call my family references?
No. The reference details are only for the lender's records, and they won't call your family references.
Buying, prices & trade-in
What is included in the price?
The listed price includes the car, JPJ ownership transfer, free window tint and an Android player. Road tax and insurance are not included in the price, but they can be financed under Tiger Capital together with your downpayment, so you still pay nothing upfront.
How do I buy a car from Tiger Motors?
1) Choose a car online or at our Batu Kawa showroom. 2) Do the free eligibility check. 3) Send us your documents and we submit your loan; approval takes up to 3 working days. 4) Sign the agreement, then collect your car or have it delivered free anywhere in Sarawak except Limbang.
Can I test drive the car?
Yes. It's best to WhatsApp 016-873 6833 to book a slot so the car is ready, but walk-ins are welcome too. Our showroom in Batu Kawa, Kuching is open Monday to Saturday, 9:30am to 6:00pm.
Do you accept trade-ins?
Yes. Send us your car's registration card (VOC/green card) with exterior and interior photos for a valuation. If your car still has an outstanding loan, the settlement amount should be about the same as or lower than the trade-in value.
Can I change to my own number plate?
Yes, once the purchase is complete and the car is registered in your name. We can handle the plate interchange for about RM1,800 to RM2,000. You buy the number yourself through JPJeBid (jpjebid.jpj.gov.my).
Delivery & buying from outside Kuching
Do you deliver outside Kuching?
Yes. Delivery is free anywhere in Sarawak except Limbang, including Sibu, Miri, Bintulu, Sarikei, Sri Aman and Serian. For buyers outside Kuching, our staff meet you at the nearest airport to sign the agreement, and the car is delivered to you.
Can I buy a car without visiting the showroom?
Yes. Many buyers in Miri, Bintulu and Sibu buy entirely through WhatsApp. We send photos, videos and the stock list, submit your loan with documents sent by phone, meet you at your nearest airport to sign, and deliver the car free.
Do you sell to buyers in Sabah or Peninsular Malaysia?
Sabah, yes. Free delivery goes up to Miri, where you can collect the car yourself, or we can deliver to Kota Kinabalu for an extra RM2,500 trailer fee. We don't deliver to other parts of Sabah. For Peninsular Malaysia, we usually advise buying locally, as our cars are brought in from there.
Choosing a used car dealer
How do I choose a good used car dealer in Kuching?
Ask every dealer five questions before you pay anything: Can I see the written inspection report? What does the warranty cover, and is it in writing? Do you guarantee no flood or total-loss history? Which lenders can you submit my loan to? What do your Google reviews say? At Tiger Motors, the answers are: a 128-point report; a 1-year engine, gearbox and ECU warranty with 60 days of unlimited claims; a no-flood, no-total-loss guarantee; six lenders plus Tiger Capital downpayment financing; and 4.9 stars from 265 Google reviews.
